The next few moments were a study in awkward silence. Dick removed his mask and began to move wordlessly about the apartment, setting out a saucer of milk for the young kitten and getting his stew. He sat down on the couch and began eating, still not responding to Barbara's comment. His eyes remained fixated on the kitten lapping happily at it's saucer. After minutes of the abject, nearly crushing lack of sound, he finally spoke.
"For what it's worth, I'm sorry." He said, leaving the statement at that.
